Originally from Upstate NY, Tom is graduate of Berklee College of Music, Boston MA.  He majored in music education before receiving his certification in arranging, and composition programs.

He has been teaching guitar, piano theory, harmony, chord scales, composition, and arranging for more than 40 years.

His music genre specialties includes Classical Piano, Jazz, Classic Rock, Country, Christian Inspirational, Metal, and Blues.

When he was 14 years old, he taught in local music stores in Upstate NY and in his own lesson studios in Mohawk and Ilion, NY in later years.

In the early 1980’s, he taught at the ‘Big Z’ (Zeswitz) Music Store when it resided in Emigsville, PA.

     

At Berklee he played in guitar ensembles led by the renowned jazz guitarist and Grammy winner, Pat Metheny.

During Tom's time at Berklee, It was clarinetist, John LaPorta's legacy in 'jingle writing' that inspired Tom to write his first radio commercial promoting a local music store.

 

Tom had also taken advanced guitar lessons and ensemble work with Carmen Caramanica of Utica, NY.  Carmen played guitar for the NBC Tonight Show Orchestra, Lou Rawls, and Tony Orlando.

More recently, Tom has been teaching traditional composition to electronic music students. Teachings include adaptation of electronic music application to piano soloist compositions and record label production requirements.

In 2018, Tom and his wife relocated to be near family in Germantown, MD, USA.

In 2019, Tom has reopened the studio at his new home, and currently follows his music passion for teaching piano, guitar, and music theory.
